Cabin fever! (Or hail to the chef)
From Norway on October 6, 2009
It seems that whether you call it Fall or Autumn,
the result is the same; rain, wind, and more rain
and wind. And in our case, also hail. Yes, I said
hail. Big, hard, round pieces of downfall in the
shape of pellets. Not that nice when you get them
cast on your head. In case you were wondering.
That`s pretty much what we Norwegians have to look forward to for the next few months. Just interrupted by snow, storms, and their joint venture; snowstorms. Aren`t we lucky?
We decided that the best place to spend this wonderful period was in a cabin. And, as luck would have it, I won the draw for the company cabin in Southern Norway this week. Yay!
After carefully picking out pieces of clothing, toiletries, and other stuff to bring with us (just kidding, I left all that to the missus), we set off on the just under 3 hour drive.
Having been there before it was easy to find, and we installed ourselves without problems and lit the fireplace. Not too shabby weather either. Will explain in next post.
About the cabin fever? The fireplace was better than we remembered, and it got really, really, really hot FAST. Emptying the freezer and crawling in myself was actually an option for a while. But we got the temperature down to viable levels in the end.
About the hail to the chef part? Guess you`ll have to follow my ramblings.
