Planning is everything
From Norway on February 11, 2009Ah well, still another change of plans. The previous message suggested a route that although it would be nice, turned out not to be possible this year. So instead, it`s going to a "compact" Denmark tour, with a couple of nights in Germany thrown in.
Every transportation, hotel, apartment and cabin is already booked and confirmed. The ferry from Kristiansand will hopefully bring us safely to Hirtshals. The first leg of the trip will be a mere 3 hrs to Kolding, where we`ll spend the first day and night in a 349 year old guest house.
Then south to Germany, where our hotel at the border (literally) have confirmed us a suite for two nights. The is also an indoor/outdoor swimmingpool. Planning on driving the 20 minutes to Flensburg for some shopping while we`re there. :-)
Then back to Denmark for a week-long stay in Ebeltoft, in an apartment at Lyngsbæk Feriecenter, before we head west to Jesperhus, where we have booked a 6-person cabin for a week. Jesperhus has both a water park and a beautiful flower park, as well as a zoo and a 4D cinema. All of which we are free to use during our stay. There`s also a golf course, a miniature golf course, a bowling alley and you can have a lazer tag game.
Denmark is one of our most favourite holiday destinations. Denmark is generally child friendly throughout, the people are extremely friendly and polite. We always have a good time with our southern neighbors and never have problems finding activities. There are loads of sights and lots of parks (water, fun, Lego - or others), nice beaches; both sand and pebble.
We always find some new adventures in Denmark, and also enjoy revisiting places when we know they`re fun. And fun we do have. Always. Traveling in Denmark is always a pleasure, with kids or without. The Danish Tourist bureau may use me as their spokesperson if they like. Just call me and I`ll do it. Seriously.
As the title says, planning is everything. Plan ahead and you`ll have a better time. Do it early and don`t hesitate too long, or you may regret it. Book early if you can, to get the best prices. Book the trip itself and at least the first few nights. Don`t plan every little second of the vacation, but be flexible and make room for doing things on the fly. See you in Denmark this summer!
